Have you ever wondered why Mary was chosen out of all the young virgins that could have been chosen to conceive and carry the Christ? She was of the right lineage and lived in the right place. But could there be more to why Mary? Maybe as a young girl she was deeply moved by the blind, the leper, or a grieving mother. Maybe her desire was beyond just maternal but for miracles. How many times she must have pondered if it were possible she would give her sight to the blind, or her porcelain like skin to the decaying leper, or even her own tender life in exchange for the son a mother had lost. Her womb cried out for more than a child that she could cradle, but for the Christ of compassion that could create through her.
Though we might not be virtuous, we too can conceive the Christ when we perceive the needs of those around us. Our womb or deep longing becomes the place where He manifest His purpose.
